The proposed parks of the mid west mulga country are ringed by the towns of Gascoyne Junction, Mullewa, Mount Magnet, Meekatharra and Wiluna - creating focal points for visitors in one of WA's largest "tourism blind spots".
The parks offer a plethora of rich experiences: Aboriginal cave paintings, engravings and ceremonial sites; rock cairns harking from John Forrest's time as an explorer of the region; icons along the Kingsford-Smith mail run; and relics of the area's gold-mining and pastoral past.
All this sits against a backdrop of rugged breakaways and ranges, carpets of annual wildflowers, river pools and spring-fed streams. The area is also rich with opportunities for four-wheel drive trails that connect in with the North-West Wildflower Trail and the Wool Wagon Pathway.
